Art Wanted

  • Dec. 20th, 2009 at 8:55 PM
Do you want your work published in a conbook?

Eufuria is a brand new convention, to be held for the first time in June 2010 outside Copenhagen, Denmark. We're currently looking for art and short stories to round out our conbook, and would love to see submissions from you. The convention theme is "A Walk in the Park" and priority is given to works which fit this theme. We're also more likely to be able to fit your art if it is small enough to work as "flavor illustration" for otherwise-full pages, though we may also have space for larger work.

Art must be cleaned up, and we'd love to have it in color! Submit your work by emailing it to conbook@eufuria.org in a high-resolution (300 dpi) lossless format such as TIF; please put "ARTWORK" in the subject line so we can easily find the entries. Published artists will receive a mention with a website address of their choice in the conbook, and as a bonus, I will draw up an art card of one of your characters and mail it to you as additional compensation.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

X-posting this from [info]witchiebunny 's original post:

DE fur [info]nightangel422 's house burnt to the ground today.<br>

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though it's likely that it started in hers and Setno's room via an explosion of some sort. Two of their cats may be dead, and her rats definitely are. They lost EVERYTHING.

Insurance will rebuild the house, but it will take a year or more. This is where we come in. I know it's the holidays, and money is tight but if you can spare even a dollar for Sunshadow and Setno and her father and brother, I know that they will be VERY grateful.

I hope you will join me in this. The link is here. It's very kindly being handled by [info]gavyn_lumier

This is the official announcement for the 4th Sunday furry lunch-meet, which takes place next weekend. Yes, I realize that it's 2 days after Christmas, but at the last meet, a good number of people indicated that they would still come, if possible.

WHEN: Sunday, December 27th, 1 PM
WHERE: Uno's Chicago Grill, 820 Somerville Ave., Cambridge MA (in the Porter Square Galleria Mall). Their menu can be found online here.

The restaurant is right across the street from the Porter Square stop on the Red Line. For latecomers: Unless the section is unavailable, we are likely to be seated at a long row of tables just outside the rest rooms on the second floor of the restaurant.

If you're driving in, there is free parking for customers directly behind the Galleria Mall. There is also free parking at the shopping area next door, but I'm not sure if that covers customers at the adjacent Mall, so park there at your own risk.

Please take note that this lunch is at 1 PM, not noon. Hope to see you there! ^_^

Delaware Furbowl 12 Canceled

  • Dec. 19th, 2009 at 10:51 AM
Delaware Furbowl 12 which was scheduled for tonight is going to be canceled. It's snowing here in Delaware and it's not showing signs of stopping anytime soon. I don't want folks risking their safety on the roads and I feel that the weather is causing unsafe driving conditions.

Again sorry for any inconvenience, and sorry to those that were really looking forward to this month's event.

I'll be hosting the next furbowl, Delaware Furbowl 12.5, next month on Saturday January 30th! I hope all of you that signed up can make it then!

Be safe out there and happy holidays!
Just a reminder I am hosting a post holiday gathering on Saturday 12/26 @ 2:30pm.

i think my new thing with these random pugs is i only DPS.
just tried to heal Forge of Souls, choice was chain heal tank/DK/warrior, myself, OR warlock using life tap standing apart from everyone....gee which of these 3 choices loses out fast. Everyone is taking 7k dmg per hit and am healing as fast as i can, but why should mr lock think thats hard, i suggested we cut our losses and he jut put all the blame on me.
i got us up to the last boss but mirror soul took me out fast. He suggested they find a healer who can actually heal. i said F u Mr. life tap and left.

then again even as DPS am getting tanks who dont know how to actually hold all the agro they pull. Died in CoS because tank didnt even try to hold agro, yet he still blamed me, wanted to leave me for dead but boomkin rezzed me because i was trying to keep the two of us alive in the sea of undead the tank wasnt holding.

ey folks!

You ever miss the days of meeting up with friends and staying up all night, playing and beating your favorite video games, and muching all pizza and junk food till you passed out from tiredness. Well relive those good memories every other week!

This meetup is a biweekly video game mashup of all ages! Modern gamers will be able to play classics that are timeless, while old skool gamers will be able to connect with the gamers today, and have a good time all while hanging out with fellow likeminded people.

THe meetups will have 3 diffrent sections.

Section 1 is the modern gaming room. This will house all the modern consoles (PS3, Xbox 360 and wii) and mor or less feature the largest area. This is the area where people will be able to compete or cooperate on various video games.

Section 2 is the classic game room. SNES, Genesis, NES and MAster System all rule this room. Wanna relive those days when you dropped the banana in front of your friend in Mario Kart? this is the place to do it! Show off your skills or challange other vets to achieve the top score!

Section 3 The video room. This is basicly the relaxation room. We show a movie, either a video game based one or a bad movie to let our Inner Mike, crow and Tom Servo out. Comfortable chairs and bags of popcorn await you in the room of cinema magic!

There will be a vote before the events to determine what games are going to be played in which room, and movies. HOWEVER, as time goes on, there might be a possibility for a theme night every once anda while.

Pizza and refreshments will be provided, though a donation of $5 would be much appreciated to help the cost of said refreshments. whatever is left over, we will give to the Child's play charity. For those of you who dont know what Child's play is, it is an organization that donates money and video game consoles to hospitals to put in their pediatrics department, letting children who are in long term care.

Our first meeting is on January 2nd, bring along your game consoles or snacks or whatever, Bring a friend even :3

The Meetings as i said are going to be biweekly, and the first few meetings will be held in Enola, PA. (more specific address will be shared closer to the date).

Anyway, If you are interested, just send me a PM or an email to Chrisrb007@gmail.com, and ill give you more information as to the meetings

On the subject of LFGs

I'm just curious if anyone else finds this amusing. Last night I found where they'd hidden the looking for raid menus, so I signed up for VoA which we had won about 15mins before hand.

There were 4 others in there and I got a pretty quick approach from someone asking if I was ranged DPS. I was in my moonkin spec, so said yes. So of course the first thing they go is "achievement?" His group had 9, so were only after one more. I honestly don't know if I have done it on my druid and told them so. So instead they ask "gear score?" That too is something I have no clue about, but I assume it wouldn't be too high, so I tell them that too. And rather predictably don't hear anything back from them. (I just found them, I do have achievements)

Then someone in the guild organised a random heroic, we got Gundrak, did that, found myself some food came back and joined the raid watch again. The guy is still there looking for ranged DPS. It had been over an hour by now.

I just find it amusing that they would rather wait that long than pick up me or one of the other 3 DPS that were sitting there. I've discovered I'm not too keen to group with people who demand achievements or gear scores. I find they tend to expect everything to be simple and almost expect to be carried through.
Hey all so I'm looking for an artist to design a bottle label for personal use. Ideally the art work would be done digitally so I can take to kinkos or something and have a sticker made from it. The basic concept is I'd like to have a feral European style dragon in green smoking a pipe with a pot leaf in the background. Again this is for personal use only and not for a commercial product. The final product will need to be about the size of an index card and I'd like to spend no more then $50 on this project.

If anybody is interested please comment and let me know, if you can provide examples of your work I'd be grateful.

ORNAMENTS

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 9:35 PM
Holy crap, what am I thinking offering ornament commissions this close to the holidays?!
Honestly, I came up with the idea yesterday, and really enjoyed painting them...
.. So I decided to take three commissions for them... To make sure they get out before Christmas, and arrive in time to be there for it.

Examples! )

So, as I said, I'm taking Three commissions for $10 dollars each.. If I happen to get done with these three before Wednesday, I may open up for more.

Just note me here on LJ, or on my FA: www.furaffinity.net/user/zippiner/

(I do have to request simple colors. I'm using paintpens for this, and only have a limited amount of colors on hand. If ou want to discuss what colors I have / am able to do, note me.)

Thanks for looking, and happy holidays!

New Avatars from Syn_Squee!

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 3:19 PM
I have finally gotten through all my overtime at work and owed artwork and commissions....and....

I AM WORKING ON AVATARS AGAIN!!! :D

I just came out with my new Mycena avatars!! They are in the vendors now in all my locations!!!

They are sculpted full prim avatars and they come in 7 colors.
The avatars have night glow and day skins and come with cute little santa hats in time for the holidays. :3

Here is the sunset color!

You can also get one of these avatars for free when you buy the toy and provide a proof of purchase from here:
http://www.patchtogether.com/store/store/view/id/166
(The website seems to be down right now, but this deal is still opens when it comes back up.)

Currently I am working on the next avatar already. They are Day Geckos! (Yes, same species as Gex and the Geico Gecko.)
Here is a preview of the sculpts I made for the avatar:
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/d/6818-1/gecko.jpg
(Ignore the picture in the background, that is Kunta-Kanti, my gecko dragon character, I am making a mod of the avatar of her when I have time.)

These are in the process of being textured like this:
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/d/6824-2/GeckoColors.jpg

:D

After that I am working on a new red panda update!
Here is a preview of that head:
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/newredpanda.jpg.html
It may come out massively different in Second Life. I am trying to do sculpted eyes on this one. The geckos have prim lids in SL but they're using a rotate script (like the Tokushi Fnuff, and the script was actually written by my buddy Racush of Tokushi.)

I also recently finished an adorable custom avatar for my boyfriend of a tri-colored border collie (Jay!):
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/JAY_4.jpg.html
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/JAY_3.jpg.html
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/JAY_2.jpg.html
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/JAY_1.jpg.html
I re-used the prims from the fruit fox (all but the ears) but I made a whole new avatar with them for him. :3

Which is actually the same thing I did to make this personal custom avatar of my sloth character "Noodle" for myself:
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/NoodleTree.jpg.html
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/NoodleBeams.jpg.html
http://www.synchrastudios.com/gallery/v/sl/noodlewinter.jpg.html

For future reference this is what I have to do on my to do list right now...
1. Gecko avatars (being textured!)
2. Red Panda avatars update (head is in the process of being sculpted)
3. Anglaroos avatars update (concepted)
4. Custom avatar trade with Whinge (concepted)
5. Organic Nashua (custom) avatar update (concepted)
6. Caracal avatars
7. Synchra (custom) avatar update (concepted)
